Artist

Burt Barnes

Burt Barnes is an American Folk Art artist. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Burt Barnes painted watercolors of coastal scenes and wild blooms around 1920. Two small sheets in the bundle show Wildflowers and Lighthouse No. 8—both tiny, precise studies in muted greens and grays. The lighthouse number suggests a series, maybe painted on the spot along a quiet stretch of shoreline where the wind flattens the grasses. Tap Lighthouse No. 8 to step inside its narrow beam of light.
