Artist
Alexander R. West
Alexander R. West is an Impressionism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Alexander R. West carried a tiny watercolor set to every dusty train station he passed, sketching what he saw before the light changed. He painted Philae Temple in 1894, not for grandeur, but because the sun struck its columns at exactly 4:17 p.m., turning stone pink. Look at that sheet in Gallery Tiles—notice how the wash bleeds where the paper buckled on the steamship deck.
