Margarita Amarantidou has a habit of making photos where the background hums louder than the subject. She shoots in places where light and shadow wrestle—abandoned courtyards in Nicosia, half-lit stairwells in Athens—then titles every print with just “Άτιτλο,” the Greek word for “untitled.” If you stand close enough to one of these black-and-white prints, you’ll notice the grain is so thick it looks like the paper itself is breathing.
