Artist

Isma'il Kashmiri

Isma'il Kashmiri is a Mughal Painting artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Isma’il Kashmiri liked to borrow from the royal studio next door. He painted the same plum tree—slightly bent at the crown—over and over, like an artist stuck on a favorite sketch. That tree appears in the background of a tiny album page from around 1590, its purple fruit the only color in a sheet crowded with calligraphy and figures. Tap it; the whole page zooms out to show how Kashmiri turned a private habit into a signature you can trace from Delhi to Lahore.
