Ignatius Kauffmann

Ignatius Kauffmann painted portraits in a crisp, late-Baroque style that stayed in vogue through the mid-1700s. The only work in this set, "Portrait of a Young Gentleman" from 1754, shows a man in a dark coat against a simple background, lit just enough to catch the lace at his cuffs.
