Antonio Maraini

Antonio Maraini always carried a camera where others carried a notebook. He shot what others ignored—scuffed café chairs, rain-streaked windows, faces lit by the wrong color bulb. One afternoon in Trastevere he captured a girl asleep on a bench, her head tipped back, mouth slightly open, light pooling around her like water. Why that frame?
