Artist
Antonio Maraini
Antonio Maraini is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Antonio Maraini always carried a camera where others carried a notebook. He shot what others ignored—scuffed café chairs, rain-streaked windows, faces lit by the wrong color bulb. One afternoon in Trastevere he captured a girl asleep on a bench, her head tipped back, mouth slightly open, light pooling around her like water. Why that frame? Because it wasn’t postcard Rome; it was Rome the city actually lived in. Look up his untitled photograph from that set and you’ll see why the everyday deserves a second glance.
