Artist
Charles Henry Woodman
Charles Henry Woodman is a British Romanticism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Charles Woodman carried a tiny paintbox everywhere he walked, sketching whatever caught his eye—mostly trees, paths, and the quiet pockets of London’s outskirts. In 1853 he set up in Richmond Park at dawn, letting the dew decide where the color landed, which is why Richmond Park looks half finished and perfectly alive. Tap it to zoom in on how he left white paper breathing between the branches; no other artist did that in the same way.
