Nini kept painting the same saint over and over—Cecilia, the patron of music, always with her eyes half-closed like she’s hearing something the rest of us miss. The robes she painted Cecilia in were never the same twice; one version has sleeves that look like they’re melting. Why she fixated on this one saint nobody’s sure.
