Artist
F.A. Macnamara
F.A. Macnamara is a Romanticism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
F.A. Macnamara spent months holed up in the British Museum print room, tracing every contour of Dürer’s engravings with a soft pencil. He never signed his own name, only the date and “H Beard Coll.” on the back of each sheet, as if the copies mattered more than the copier. That’s the trick: Macnamara didn’t make prints; he made footnotes you can hang on your wall. Look up his January 1838 sheet in the H Beard Print Collection—it’s a quiet doorway into how artists learned before Instagram tutorials.
