Semertzidis Valias

Semertzidis Valias is an artist. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at Athens School of Fine Arts.

Greek artist Semertzidis Valias is best known for stark, spare landscapes that focus on the meeting point of rock and water. In 1939 he turned out two versions of “Landscape (rock and sea)” and a bold metalwork titled “Mountains and Seas,” all built from flat planes and muted tones that feel both ancient and modern. His work sits just outside any labeled movement, letting the shapes and spaces speak for themselves. Tap “Mountains and Seas” to see how he wove hammered metal into a craggy seascape.
