Airfix Products Ltd

Airfix Products Ltd is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Airfix Products Ltd started in the 1930s making rubber bath toys before pivoting to plastic model planes in the 1950s. They built the Hurricane fighter kit in 1972 by reverse-engineering blueprints from the RAF museum. That same year they released a booklet of those sketches—thin, smudged ink lines on cheap paper—as a free gift with the kit. Their genius was turning engineering secrets into something any kid could hold. Find their Plans, Drawings and Sketches for a Hurricane Aircraft Model Kit and see where plastic toys meet real planes.
