J. Richards

J. Richards is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

This 18th-century printmaker carved scenes of daily life and sold them in London shops. One surviving sheet shows a busy street near St. Paul’s Cathedral, its sharp lines catching the hats and coats of passersby. Most of their prints were small, cheap, and meant to be pasted on walls or tucked into books. Look for an impression of London’s Holborn Hill—where the ink still feels fresh—on the next tile.
