Cyril William OBE Beaumont

Cyril William OBE Beaumont is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Cyril Beaumont spent his life sneaking art into everyday London life, slipping prints into teacups and sketches into theater programs. He once designed a whole ballet’s backdrops while riding the 38 bus, nailing the colors before the stop at Highgate. If you’ve ever paused in Tate Britain’s quiet corner and noticed the way a single blue stripe can make a whole room feel warmer, that’s the Beaumont effect. Look up his 1947 watercolor “The Old Church at Rye” and count how many ways one slanted roof can hold the whole sky.
