Christian Metzger is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Christian Metzger carried a tiny Leica in his coat pocket for decades, snapping photos of strangers on Parisian sidewalks before anyone thought twice about it. He never cropped, never posed—just caught people mid-stride, sometimes looking, sometimes lost in thought. His pictures feel like overheard gossip: a woman adjusting her glove on Rue de Rivoli, a man lighting a cigarette in the rain. You can almost hear the city around them. To see his work up close, look for the series he called *Rues* at the Forum des Images photo wall—it’s the closest thing to eavesdropping on Paris in the 1990s.
