Artist

David Carr

David Carr is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

David Carr painted tight, single-figure watercolors in the late 1960s. In the Tate’s holdings you’ll find his Male Head from 1968, a close-up study of a man’s features rendered in fluid washes of indigo and ochre. The sheet’s uncluttered background keeps all the focus on the face, catching a quiet moment of concentration. Move next to the sheet’s reverse side, where Carr jotted a quick color note in pencil—an inside glimpse at a working artist’s habit.
