Artist

Charles ARA Turner

Charles ARA Turner is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Turner carried a stubby charcoal pencil everywhere, turning napkins into sketches between train rides. He never sold a thing, but left hundreds of drawings stacked in his attic—each one a tiny, urgent world. To see where he started, look up his 1907 sketch “Untitled (Drawing)” on the app; it’s just a few tangled lines, but those lines would later loosen into the loose, dancing strokes that make his work feel alive.
