Emil Otto Hoppé is an artist. 3 works are cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Emil Otto Hoppé built a career behind the camera in the early 20th century, making crisp portraits of artists and institutions. His lens caught Jacob Epstein in thoughtful repose around 1912, the sculptor’s strong features framed by soft light. He also stepped backstage in 1928 to photograph Serge Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes, freezing dancers in motion before the curtain rose. Flip the tile to see how he framed the Royal College of Art’s sculpture hall in 1931.
