Artist
Nils Nilsson
Nils Nilsson is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Finnish National Gallery.
Nils Nilsson kept a studio so cramped he turned the hallway into a makeshift drying rack for his oils. He painted portraits by the dim morning light of his rented attic in Helsinki, always leaving one shoulder half-finished so the sitter could come back and finish the other side whenever they felt like it. Look up Tytön muotokuva and you’ll see what he meant: a girl’s face half-lit, half-shadowed, as if the picture itself is still deciding what it wants to be.
