Belgian artists in the 1860s often turned quiet household corners into poetic subjects, and J. de Clercq’s Still Life (1860) follows that tradition. Both of the works in our bundle are oil-on-canvas still lifes dated 1860, rendered with careful folds of linen, gleaming copper, and soft fruit baskets that catch the light of a north-facing studio.
