Artist
Hugh McKenzie
Hugh McKenzie is a social realism artist. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Hugh McKenzie’s cityscapes turn London building sites and everyday streets into watercolours and drawings. In 1972 he recorded the cranes and half-built walls of Upper Thames Street; a decade later he caught the brick terraces and shopfronts of Queens Road, Peckham. His quick strokes make pavement and progress feel as vivid as the people who walk there. Tap Queens Road, Peckham to step into one of those south London afternoons.
