Dimitrie Sevastian

Dimitrie Sevastian is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at National Museum of Art of Romania.

Dimitrie Sevastian spent his days in a Bucharest apartment cluttered with half-finished canvases and stacks of old jazz records. He only painted in the morning, when the light from his north-facing window stayed cool, and by 1936 he had turned that same window into a frame for a nude that felt less like flesh and more like a charcoal sketch that forgot to stop moving. Look up “Nud” and you’ll see what happens when an artist treats shadows like they’re made of smoke.
