Artist
Hélène Grunhoff
Hélène Grunhoff is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Hélène Grunhoff kept a tiny Rolleiflex in her coat pocket, snapping black-and-white Paris street scenes between errands. She shot whenever light hit a puddle just right, turning rain-soaked sidewalks into mirrors. Her prints are almost too quiet—just a woman’s gloved hand disappearing around a corner in Rue de Rivoli, 1953. Look for the corner of Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré if you want to stand where she stood; it hasn’t changed much.
