Artist
Claude Walker
Claude Walker is an Impressionism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Claude Walker spent his life beside the Thames Estuary, where the salt air turned his watercolours permanently creamy with drips and bleeds. He liked to stand on Southend Pier watching the Navy go by, then dash off a painting in under an hour before the light shifted. You can still stand where he stood: the pier today has a plaque marking the exact spot he chose for Southend Pier during Naval Review.
