Artist
Perlberg Christian
Perlberg Christian is a Biedermeier artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Historical & Ethnological Society of Greece.
She once watched fishermen haul nets under a sky so blue it looked like a spilled jar of cobalt, and she kept the color in her pocket for years. In her 1838 painting, crowds spill across the ruins of the Olympieion in Athens, their skirts and coats flapping like the wings of small, excited birds. The work’s Greek title—“Celebration of Clean Monday by the Columns of the Olympieion in Athens”—is a door you can walk through: type it into any search and you’ll land on a sunlit morning 190 years old.
