Thomas Scandrett

Thomas Scandrett is a British Romanticism artist. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

This British artist painted detailed watercolors of grand old buildings in the 1800s. You can see his careful hands at work in *Tomb of Henry III in Westminster Abbey* (1848) and *The High Altar Screen, St Albans Abbey* (around 1845–1855). His sheets capture stone carvings and stained glass as they stood before modern restorations. Flip to the next image to step inside one of those same abbey spaces and compare how light plays through the ancient windows.
