Artist
Dutch 18th Century

1745–1745
Dutch 18th Century was a Baroque artist. 3 works are cataloged here, principally at National Gallery of Art.
This 18th-century Dutch artist left behind three precise drawings on paper. *The Judgment of Paris* shows a mythological scene in pen and ink with gray shading. *Design for a Ceiling: Aeolus Seated on Clouds Surrounded by Putti* is a chalk sketch for a ceiling decoration, full of floating figures. Their third piece, a print after Abraham Bloemaert, copies an earlier engraver’s work. These sheets reveal the careful linework and classical themes popular in mid-1700s Dutch art. Tap *Design for a Ceiling* to see how the artist planned a grand, sky-filled composition.
