Dujam Vuskovic

d. 1455

Dujam Vuskovic was a Venetian Renaissance artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Hermitage Museum.

Dujam Vuskovic painted saints in Sibenik in the 1400s. In his only known work here, St Matthew the Evangelist and five other saints stand shoulder to shoulder in bright robes and halos. The figures are flat and formal, part of the early Renaissance style that was just reaching the Adriatic coast. Tap the painting to stand closer and notice how each saint’s name is spelled out in gold letters on the frame.
