Giuseppi Grisoni

Giuseppi Grisoni is a Baroque artist. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Giuseppe Grisoni worked as a court painter in Florence but spent years in London, where he split his time between grand parties and printmaking in a cluttered attic. He loved dressing up—maybe too much; one observer grumbled he spent more on costumes than on canvas. The joke stuck because he painted the joke: his *Masquerade at the King’s Theatre* is a glittering, almost sneaky crowd scene where no one’s face is quite what it seems. Look for the man in the silver domino mask—he’s the least disguised person in the room.
