Rupert Potsch painted religious scenes on big wooden altarpieces in the early 1500s. One of them is the Winged Altarpiece, made around 1500–1510, with folding panels that would open and close in church services. These altarpieces were the central images in medieval and early Renaissance worship spaces, showing saints, Bible stories, and scenes of Jesus’ life. Tap Winged Altarpiece to see how the folds change the scene inside.
