A Pole who settled in Munich, he turned battlefield chaos into a kind of orderly theater, every rearing horse and flintlock fuse frozen in mid-air drama. His print *Tătari fugăriți de polonezi* shows exactly that scene: Tatar horsemen bolting from Polish cavalry, the dust so thick you can taste the gunpowder.
