Sabin Bălașa painted large oil-on-canvas tributes of the 1970s–80s, usually showing leaders surrounded by crowds and doves against deep blue backgrounds. One 1978 print titled Omagiu was made for Nicolae Ceaușescu’s birthday gift, and a 1979 canvas called Omagiu din partea tineretului shows both Ceaușescus with young people and white doves.
