Artist
Louis Dupré

Louis Dupré is a Romanticism artist. 4 works are cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Louis Dupré traveled Ottoman lands in the 1810s and 1820s, painting watercolours of daily life like Une Demoiselle Grecque de Livadie and Mehmet Aga Salam. These small, intimate scenes show European and Ottoman dress side by side, a snapshot of the era’s fashions and faces. In 1836 he turned to printmaking with the H Beard Print Collection, reproducing views and costumes. To step into Dupré’s world, tap Une Demoiselle Grecque de Livadie and look for the patterned shawl around her shoulders.
