Augustin Costinescu

Augustin Costinescu made black-and-white prints of the Danube delta’s river towns in the mid-20th century. He etched the wooden docks and bobbing fishing boats of Tulcea veche and the sturdy brick cherhana smokehouses that lined the water. His prints show the delta’s flat light and layered textures without color—just the cross-hatching of currents and nets.
