Artist

Sándor Galimberti

Hungarian, 1883–1915

Sándor Galimberti was a Hungarian Post-Impressionism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Hungarian National Gallery. Sándor Galimberti was born in Kaposvár.

This painter loved painting towns at twilight, when the gas lamps flicker on and the day’s heat lingers in the bricks. He’d set up his easel in the same spot for weeks, watching how the light changed the gray walls and the shadowed doorways. Look for “Townscape” on the wall next to the big Turner—it’s small but packed with the quiet drama of a town closing up for the night, every window a story.
