Adriaen van de Venne

Adriaen van de Venne is a Baroque artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Brukenthal National Museum.

Adriaen van de Venne spent his life turning quiet corners of the Dutch countryside into sharp little jokes—he once drew a peasant stuck in a mousetrap labeled “Politics,” complete with tiny flags fluttering above the jaws. Slide into Gallery Tiles past the print titled Țăranul în capcană and you’ll spot the trap before you even read the caption; the trap is the whole world.
