Artist

Lestudier Leacour

Lestudier Leacour is a Romanticism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

This Parisian printmaker spent his days hunched over copper plates, ears stuffed with wax to block the clatter of the workshop outside. He’d scrape the metal until his fingers bled, then ink it and press it onto paper—only to start over if the light hit wrong. The prints he left behind, like *H Beard Collection*, feel like time capsules: crowds in top hats, horses mid-gallop, a cat napping on a windowsill. Drop into any mid-1800s Paris print shop and you’ll find his work tucked between ads for corsets and absinthe.
