Artist
Tsar Kostas
Tsar Kostas is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Athens School of Fine Arts.
Tsar Kostas kept a tiny radio in his coat pocket, never turned off, its dial always humming with Greek news or old rebetiko songs. He closed his eyes while he worked, not to feel the world disappear but to hear it more clearly. That habit shows up in his 1956 Galatsi painting: the harbor lights are softer than a photograph, as if you’re seeing the scene through half-closed lids. Look for this work in Gallery Tiles—it’s the door you step through to feel the afternoon fade into evening on a Greek dock.
