Artist

Ernest Thesiger

Ernest Thesiger is a British Romanticism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Ernest Thesiger left a single watercolor behind: *Chelsea Old Church, after destruction by a German bomb in an air raid on the night of 16th/17th April 1941*. The sheet shows the ruined east end of the church, drawn in April 1941 as London still smoldered. It’s a plain record: pencil underdrawing, muted greys, and the faintest wash of pink sky over shattered stone. Tap the watercolor to see the pencil lines that map every broken buttress and window arch.
