Emilie Wallensköld

Emilie Wallensköld is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Helsinki City Museum.

Emilie Wallensköld kept a sketchbook in her pocket at all times, scribbling whenever a comet streaked the sky or a cloud looked like a face. One April night in 1877 she dashed off “Meteori Helsingin taivaalla,” a looping pencil drawing that turns a celestial event into a frantic spiral of light. The sheet still lives in Helsinki’s city museum—hold the paper under a lamp and you can see where she smudged a falling star’s tail with her thumb.
