Duroni & Murer

Duroni & Murer is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

They sold magic for a living. Duroni and Murer ran a Milan studio in the 1850s where theater stars posed under painted backdrops and stage tricks made the ordinary look supernatural—one trickster even vanished right before your eyes. Their trick: a hidden trapdoor disguised as a rug. Their prints—like Guy Little Theatrical Photograph—still show the exact spot where a prima donna’s skirt once floated an inch above the floor. Look for the rug.
