Șușcă Ion

Șușcă Ion is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at ASTRA National Museum Complex.

Ion Șușcă made pottery in a small Transylvanian village where the kilns had burned since his grandfather’s time. On a chunky jar with a flared lip, he painted thin black lines and sharp zigzags between two rings, as if the pot itself had a belt of lightning. The rusty red clay and the bold geometry make you see everyday clay as a tiny, proud rebellion against plain white plates. Look for the jar labeled “Recipient cilindric ușor bombat” in the village museum to spot how a few lines can turn clay into character.
