Artist
Master of the Antwerp Adoration Group
Master of the Antwerp Adoration Group is a Northern Renaissance artist. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at Art Institute of Chicago.
This anonymous painter from 16th-century Flanders made big, detailed Bible scenes. Two works in this set show King David accepting water from Bethlehem’s well and King Solomon greeting the Queen of Sheba, both painted around 1515–20 with rich colors on wood. The figures wear heavy robes and stand in grand rooms, looking like actors in a play.
