Aurelia Gheorghiu

Aurelia Gheorghiu is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at National Museum of Romanian History.

Aurelia Gheorghiu painted the hidden corners of power, not its pomp. She spent years tucked in Bucharest’s yellow sector, sketching party meetings in 1945, long before anyone asked to see the paperwork. Her 1969 cardboard study captures a single table, a moment no camera bothered to frame. The work arrived at the cinematheque like a file that wasn’t supposed to be kept. In Gallery Tiles, tap “Tablou, 1969” and you’ll find the meeting minutes still pinned to the back.
