E. Leon Goué

E. Leon Goué is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at National Museum of Art of Romania.

E.L. Goué spent his short life painting the slow, heavy streets of Bucharest, where he ran a café that doubled as an art salon. He stockpiled canvases in his attic, then burned most of them when he ran out of space, so only a handful survive. His *Convoi spre ghilotină* (1913)—a gray procession of prisoners under armed guard—feels less like history and more like your own bad dream you can’t shake. Look it up, then click through to his handful of surviving works; you’ll see why this overlooked Romanian painted shadows that refuse to leave the room.
