R. Hocc
R. Hocc is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
R. Hocc never signed the work. Every print in the Beard Collection looks like a different hand, but they all hide one tiny stub of a beard in the corner—Hocc’s inside joke. He stuffed them into London print shops during the 1830s like anonymous graffiti, daring buyers to spot the prank. If you squint at the “H Beard Print Collection” online, you’ll see it’s less a portfolio and more a scavenger hunt; tap any face and the beard flickers in and out like a wink.
