Artist

Walter RWS Crane

Walter RWS Crane is an Impressionism artist. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Walter RWS Crane painted soft, luminous watercolors of southern Italy in the 1870s. His brush traced sunlit groves near Sorrento and quiet coves outside Salerno, using pale greens and gentle blues to capture the Bay of Naples. These two works—*View at La Cava, near Salerno* and *Trees near Sorrento*—show how he let the paper do half the work, building light with delicate washes. Tap *View at La Cava* next to wander into the scene yourself.
