Artist
In Jae Hwang
In Jae Hwang is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This Korean artist once spent a year alone in a Seoul studio painting nothing but mountains from memory. Then he’d slash the canvases in half—not to destroy them, but to force himself to finish the bottom from the top down. The slashes read like seams when you stand close, yet somehow the peaks still float above the wreckage. Look up his *Diamond Mountain (Kumgangsan)*: the ink never settles, the snow keeps drifting, and the viewer’s eye keeps getting lost in the same folds you think you just mastered.
