Artist

J Michael

J Michael is an Impressionism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

J Michael kept a studio above a hat shop on London’s Strand, where the smell of felt and turpentine mixed with the river’s salt. He painted the city’s grand new courts and bridges in watercolour so light it looks like the buildings are dissolving. If you stand in the Victoria & Albert Museum’s Cast Courts you’ll see the same half-size plaster cast he used as reference.
