Artist
John McNeill
John McNeill is an Orientalism artist. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
John McNeill put these rich watercolors on paper in 1833. “Persian” and “Costume of a Persian Harem Lady” show finely brushed robes, jewelry, and palace interiors straight from British visitors’ travel sketches. He belonged to the early-1800s taste for exotic scenes that British artists shipped home from Persia. Next, tap either piece to see the delicate paint handling up close.
