Polish 15th Century

1450–1450
Polish 15th Century was a Renaissance artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at National Gallery of Art.
This artist carved a single wooden block in 1450 and left us a tiny print that traveled five centuries to hang in Washington, D.C. They never signed it, but the White Eagle and the Crown of Poland stand out in crisp lines. Look closely: the bird’s wings are still sharp after half a millennium. Drop by the National Gallery of Art and find NGA 46311 in the prints room; it’s tucked above eye level, so you’ll crane your neck like everyone else.
